Watercolor Lifting!

Hey Inkers!!!

I’m so glad to be back in the workshop!!!

I still have a few trips to the doc to take care of, but I’m standing/walking around without pain…Yippee!! I spent a lot of time in the car (80 miles one way), plus the appointment
time, which didn’t leave much time for crafting after adding in daily chores like supper
etc. (especially when you can’t stand for long periods of time).  But…one thing I did come
across was a new video from Stampin’ Up! showing the Watercolor Lifting Technique!

I always get excited about learning a new technique…don’t you?

I decided I would give this one a try to see how it worked, and then
share the results with all of you. I used the same technique and layout
that’s in the video below, but I substituted the stamp set with one I
already owned, in this case the Swirly Bird stamp set…one of my favs!

I used the Shimmering White Card Stock, it works great for watercolor
techniques like this one!

I took this side shot to show the shiny part, it gives you a better idea of the results.

FYI: The embossed part does remain it’s darker color after you go over it with the
additional second layer of watercolor.

Also.. it can be tough to see exactly where you are stamping, so I would suggest
covering the entire piece of card stock with the color when doing the first watercolor
layer. You can see in this sample that portions of the swirly look cut off, they are there,
but there isn’t enough color coverage in the first layer for them to show really well.  If
you look closely you can see the shine where they are embossed, it almost appears
grey to the eye.

Overall, this Watercolor Lifting Technique is fun & easy!
Give it a try…and then share with the rest of us!

Enjoy!
Karen
