Single Blue Ornament

Good Morning, Inkers!

This card started out to be a skyline with trees…and ended up a Christmas ornament!

I’ll spare you the details, let’s just say a single swipe with the brayer and your
whole idea changes when it’s the wrong color of ink…Yikes!

Despite the less than perfect start, the end result came out great, don’t you think?

If you haven’t tried the Emboss Resist Technique…you’re missing out!

Here’s how it’s done…
The trees are stamped in VersaMark, and embossed with white powder.
Then, ink is applied using a brayer (you can also use a sponge, or dauber), and a
cloth is rubbed over the surface to clean off the image. It really makes the embossing stand out from the background, and it’s a quick and easy technique to learn. Give it a try!

The background is lightly spritzed with water for just a hint of distressing.

I really wanted some thin silver ribbon to tie on the ornament, but I had none…so, I improvised.  I grabbed the Metallic Baker’s Twine I keep next to my table and pulled out the thin layer of silver that runs through it.  It kept rolling up when I tried to make it into a bow, so I left it straight, and cut it to length. I used the adhesive from the new Fine Tip Glue Pen to hold it in place, and added the rhinestone to finish it off.

I went outside my comfort zone just a tiny bit here, I don’t use a lot of blue in my projects, but I think it’s good to challenge yourself once in a while, how about you?

Enjoy!
