My Saturday Post: Little Red Sled

Happy Saturday!  It’s the weekend!

I’m in a card frenzy at my house!  I have so many great new things to “play” with I don’t know which one to try first!   I’m trying to get ahead for the holidays and I keep getting distracted by all the ideas swimming around in my head, and life in general.  Therefore, I don’t have a lot of finished projects hanging around, but I did manage to get this one out the gate!  I love this Little Red Sled and I hope you like it too!

My Saturday Post:  Little Red SledHoliday Sneak Peek! Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit #2This card is made with the Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit!  The kit comes with enough product to make 20 cards!  You can make 5 cards each of 4 designs!  That’s a lot of cards for the price!  You can order this kit and a ton of other great stuff starting August 28th!

For my Little Red Sled card, I sort of mixed things up a bit and used the contents from the kit to make my own design!  That’s the fun of a kit, all the pieces are already cut and you can use them any way you want to!.  You can follow the directions and make some great cards in a hurry, or you can mix and match until you get something a little more original.  Either way, kits are a great time saver!

For the sled I used one of my Aqua Painters to help get the watercolor look.  I used just enough water to dampen the sled (too much and it curls up), then I used the Cherry Cobbler ink refill straight from the bottle. I put a dab of color where I wanted it to look darker and let it spread out.  When it was done spreading out, I let it dry a bit and then decided where to add more color.

By using the ink straight from the bottle, I got a more intense color. If you want more of a softer look, try adding the color in layers. Put a few drops of ink on a tray or craft mat.  Squeeze out a small amount of water with your Aqua Painter.  Dip your Aqua Painter into the ink ,swish it around, adding more water if you need to. Give the sled a light wash, and then let it dry. Keep repeating adding where you want more color.  You may have to add more ink than water to get the color you want.  It’s a trial and error process, or at least it was for me!

One of these days I will actually have tutorials with photos and everything for this sort of stuff!  Maybe even a video! Won’t that be a hoot!  It may be a while before I get there, but it’s on the bucket list!  I’ve made it this far, so who knows where this journey will take me!

Leave a reply below and let me know how your Little Red Sled comes out!  I would love to have you share any little tricks you may have!  That way we all can learn!

Thanks for visiting today!

Happy Stamping!
