My Saturday Post: Blended Bloom #2

Happy Saturday!

Can you believe this is the last Saturday in July?  Summer is flying by!

A while back I posted my first attempt at using the new Blendabilities Markers from Stampin’ Up!  After a little bit of practice, I thought I’d let you in on my progress and share Blended Bloom #2.

My Saturday Post:  Blended Bloom #2

Blended Bloom #2 2014 with wm

The Blended Bloom stamp has nice open spaces that are great for practicing with the Blendabilites, and that makes the learning curve a little easier for someone like me!

I probably colored about 10-12 flowers between #1 and #2, and I must tell you, there were some real stinkers in there!  After all that coloring I think you can see some progress between the two, not much, but it’s there. I think I let too much time go by in between practice sessions.

Along the way I learned that you shouldn’t try to color the entire flower with the first color and then move on because the ink dries too quickly.  It seems to work better if you color a small portion (like 2 petals) with the first color and then go back with the next color while the first one is still wet and so on. However, I’m told you can go back after it’s dry and still blend it together more. You just take the lightest color and go over it again and again until you’ve blended it (I haven’t tried this yet), but that seems like a lot of work unless you’re trying to fix a mistake or something. All that being said, it just comes down to practice, the more you practice the better you become. I’m a firm believer that with practice I can become quite good at this, and so can you!

Practice, Practice, Practice!

Enjoy!…Karen
