Denim & Suede

Hello Stampers…
Sometimes when you least expect it, a stamp set, (or two) can
spark your imagination and become an instant favorite!

Denim & Suede from Inker's Workshop. Uses the new Touches Of Texture, Country Livin', colors: Dapper Denim & Soft Suede www.inkersworkshop.com 2016Denim & Suede…it’s always fun when the unexpected happens,
don’t you think?

We all have our favorite “must haves” when we see a new catalog,
but there’s always those few stamp sets that we think, eh…I’m not
sure I would use that, am I right?

Well, for me one of those sets was Country Livin’. I had it on order
for a workshop where the hostess had asked for a Father’s Day project.
When the workshop was cancelled, I toyed with idea of removing from
the order, but at the last minute I decided to keep it.

When the order arrived and I opened my big box of goodies (you can
see my very first video of this over on my Facebook page…scary huh!),
I was surprised that this set was the first one to speak to me…pick me,
pick me it said…so I did, and the minute I inked up those boots the
whole project came to life in front of me…I love it when that happens!

Some of the reasons this card works are in the details.

The splatter (Touches Of Texture) is “stamped off” before making the
background, that way when you stamp the flower in full ink over the top,
it appears to have more depth.

The boots are inked in Soft Suede using an Aqua Painter, and by
coloring the straps blue, the boots come to life…and it pulls all the
denim elements together.

For added texture the new Burlap Ribbon is rubbed with Soft Suede ink
and allowed to peak out to the edge of the card, with rhinestones adding
a final touch to the boot and the flower

You’ve probably noticed that there is no greeting… it’s okay to have a
card without one, it leaves the possibilities wide open. So, go ahead,
just write on the inside…or add your greeting at a moments notice for
whatever occasion you choose.

it’s also runs up the side of the card, a great compliment to those boots!

So, just to be clear…
Am I the only crazy person who thinks stamps “speak” to me?

Enjoy!

    • Thanks, Linda! This was a totally fun card to make. I see you on Pinterest a lot, we pin some of the same things…great minds…hahaha! I will be watching for your new creations, I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

    • Thanks, Rae! I definitely thought of you while putting this together. I figured you’d beat me to the punch using the boots…can’t wait to see what you create with this set!

  2. My, My. My what a beautiful card! Yes, stamps do speak to you and it is interesting what they say and how many ways they say it! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this stamp set – absolutely love it!

    • Thanks, Evelyn! My husband thinks I’m a little crazy when I say the stamps are speaking to me, but that’s how I see it…it’s nice to know I’m not alone in this!

  3. Oh my gosh, Karen, this is absolutely the PERFECT masculine card!!!!! My father-in-law would have loved it had he lived to get this one. Big Pete was SUCH the cowboy here in the Texas Hill Country. *sigh* I’m going to have to find an occasion to make this card for his dear, sweet son, my hubby!

And, no, you aren’t crazy. Stamps speak to me in my dreams and I wake with ideas. 🙂

    • Celia, I’m so glad you like the card! I have never been to Texas, I feel I must visit someday… every time I turn around I see one more great thing that I must visit there. My biggest addiction on television right now has to be Fixer Upper. I like the farm house look and would love to see those silos in person someday! P.S. Glad to know your stamps speak to you!

  4. I simply loved this card and had to make it! I used Awesomely Artistic as a substitute since I did not have the Touches of Texture set. It’s now on my shopping list. Thank you for sharing this beautiful card.

  5. This is just gorgeous!!! You know, I would have looked right past that Touches of Texture stamp set. Now it is at the top of my list!

Thank you for sharing. I just love this set.

  6. Thank you for sharing. My father passed away in March just before this stamp set came out. I was at convention when I saw it. It was a must have and first on my list just as soon as we could make the purchase. Because you see, my father was a true cowboy and last of his kind. I have not done anything with this set but had to have it because of the western aspect of the set. It reminded me so much of my dad. I truly love this card and am going to make it especially for my family in remembrance of him. I will give all credit to you for making this card, but I just have to make it. Thank you again so much for sharing. Again love love love this card.
