Be Joyful!

Good Morning Inker’s!

How did you spend your Labor Day weekend? Outdoors…camping, biking,
maybe having a BBQ with friends and family, or … GASP…working?

I had a bit of a stay-cation at home myself. I got some crafting done (YAY!),
spent some time in my garden and just tried to breathe a little bit.

Be Joyful! Inker's Workshop. Uses Merriest Wishes and Santa's Sleigh Framelits Dies from Stampin' Up! 2016

Be Joyful…it’s a great greeting for this card with it’s big
curvy font…and the tree tucked in behind helps make a bold statement!

One of the things on my weekend to-do list was to try and come up with a
simple Christmas card that everyone could make stacks of that wouldn’t
take tons of time, but was still something special.  This card fits the bill…
don’t you agree?

Be Joyful! Inker's Workshop. uses Merriest Wishes and Santa's Sleigh Framelits Dies. Detail of sparkle. 2016

Those gold stars are cut from Glimmer Paper…and as we all know,
Glimmer Paper sheds!  We also know it’s full of static and sticks like
mad on almost anything…sometimes to the point of frustration!

Well, I don’t know how I did it, but this glittery stuff was everywhere!
So, I decided since I couldn’t keep it off the card, I would just add more.
Scratching the stars a tiny bit provided oodles of glitter, and a short
wisp of air blew most of it off, leaving the stubborn ones behind, I guess
there was just enough static for them to hang on…it certainly adds a
finishing touch to the tree. How long do you think it will stay on the
card?  Hmm…will it make it through the mail?

Stak of cut cards for my stash. 7 most used colors right now. Inker's Workshop 2016

One of the other things I got caught up on over the weekend was
my card stash! Here are 7 of my most used colors right now…
Basic Black, Whisper White (thick), Rich Razzleberry, Real Red,
Crumb Cake, Early Espresso and Cherry Cobbler…yummy colors!

If you only have 10 or 15 min.at a time for crafting, a stash of
ready-made goodies (especially embellishments) can really come in
handy! It can also be a great jumping off point for a project when
you’re wondering where your mojo went!

Enjoy!

    • Hi, Karen! I do cut & score bunches of the entire card @ 5 1/2 x 4 1/4. Usually I cut about 30 of the colors I’m most using at the time, but I have at least 5 of all the colors cut out…you never know when the mood will strike for a color! I also cut some (not 30) card fronts in white, black and Crumb Cake (what I use the most), and store them in front of the cards so they are ready to use. I may take a little time up front, but when the creative mood strikes, you are ready! This helps me use colors that I normally shy away from because I can pull them out and see what they look like together and how they layer. I like to play and move things around, so it works for me. I also try (I said try) to have some embellishments made up in my stash, that way when you need a card in a hurry, you’re half way there…just stamp a greeting, and put it together.

Got something to say? Leave me a comment...I'd like that!
