Stamp Review Crew: Bonus Hop-Any SAB!

Wow, I am so excited to be able to join in the hop today… I feel like I have missed out on so much!. 2017 had a lot of challenges for my family and it seems that some of it carried over into the first several weeks of 2018.  Being away made it hard to keep up with the blog and my Facebook page or even create anything to share, but family first… be it hospitals, illness or whatever!  I am happy to be here creating again, and I have high hopes that 2018 will hold many blessings for my family and yours…now for some ink!

Welcome to the hop!

The SRC is an international group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that come together on the first and third Mondays of every month for a blog hop. Each artist will feature projects using the same stamp set, providing you with oodles of inspiration that will get you stamping!

This month we have an extra Monday, so that means a Bonus Hop!  I chose the Amazing You stamp set and the Celebrate You Thinlits Dies from the Sale-A-Bration brochure to share with you today…(you can earn free product with your minimum purchase during SAB!). If you get lost along the way, click on the banner above, it will take you to the main blog where you can see the master list …Happy Hopping!

SRC Bonus Hop-Any SAB! B&W with red roses. Inker's Workshop 2018

This somewhat off beat card happened because of my infatuation with the Petal Passion Designer Series Paper in the Occasions catalog!  I love black & white paper, and it’s so easy to create instant drama just by adding a pop of color!  This paper is perfect for coloring and  I couldn’t resist getting out my Stampin’ Blends and going to town (they are fabulous!).  After coloring the entire sheet, I fussy cut out a bunch of flowers and leaves, and even made a few projects. The two red roses above were left on the table with no where to go…they are not full flowers, they have flat sides where they ran off the edge of the paper, but I couldn’t just toss them …so what to do with them?

Enter the black circle (Stitched Shapes Framelits)… it was hanging out on my desk, and worked perfectly to cover those harsh edges. I already had the word amazing die cut in gold (I think I cut about 20, I just love it!) and the black & white stripe was left over from covering the flap of an envelope ( I also made one for this card). I stamped the remaining words on Whisper White, but that didn’t do it for me, so I switched them out and used Vellum. It’s a bit quirky, but I like how it turned out…happy, happy!

Stamp Review Crew: Bonus Hop-Any SAB! Celebrate You. Inker's Workshop 2018

For my second card today, I wanted to use the sun burst (at least that’s what I call it) from the Amazing You set because I hadn’t found a way to include it any of my projects to date. So, I
heat embossed it in gold and set it aside.

Then, I got sidetracked (hard to believe,eh) with an idea for a tag and decided to break out the new Brusho Crystals, which I purchased way back in December and still had not even opened…EEEK!  I used the Moss Green crystals, thinking it would be a good background for that pretty flower. I made two samples on some Shimmery White card stock, and I cut this one two inches wide so it would fit into the tag punch I have…does that look like a tag to you?  Umm…NOPE..

I stamped two flowers, colored them with the Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends, fussy cut them, and used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop them up. I die cut the YOU from the thinlits, then stamped and trimmed the word celebrate. Now, here I am an hour later, with all these random pieces that basically had nothing to do with my original idea…..but it was a fun hour! Can ya tell I haven’t stamped in a while?

After a bit of rearranging, I managed to get all the pieces to come together…sort of.  I went back and forth about adding leaves to the flower, but I wanted all that inky background to show, so I didn’t. Now every time I look at it, I think it needs leaves…LOL, isn’t that the way!

I love being creative… I feel lost when I go long periods of time without making something with my hands. I am so thankful to be a stamping again, I can totally lose myself in the process…it really is therapy for me!

P.S.  I think I see a Brusho addiction in my future!

Have A Fabulous Day!
Karen

  1. Karen, hugs for your 2017. I certainly hope that 2018 has far more joy than hardship for you. And welcome back to the creative side, you certainly started it off with a bang!! Beautiful cards with so much artistic expression.

    • Thank you, Tanya! I am looking forward to great things in 2018! I would love to spend as much time as possible creating, and I hope to join as many hops as I can!

  2. The Brusho card is my fav. I think that hour you spent was amazing. The pieces you put together…no leaves needed. I have been so so about brush, now after seeing your card, I’m rethinking it. Thanks for sharing your design. Both cards are beautiful.

    • Susan, thanks for your wonderful comment! I think what intrigues me about the Brushos the most is the range of colors I’m getting. For this card I only used the Moss Green color, but if you look closely you can see brown, yellow, green and a tinge of blue in there. So, one color can work with a variety of ideas, plus it doesn’t take much to get great color. So, even though I was taken back by the price, after working with it, I realized how much use I could get out of it…so I feel like I’m getting a good deal…in this case a little goes a long way! P.S. thanks for the leaf comment!

    • Thanks Cindy! I love that color combo and I’m probably guilty of over using it…but it goes with so many things (me, justifying myself). Go with what you love I say!

  3. Glad you have been able to get back into creating Karen – the perfect therapy. I hope that 2018 is a great one for you and your family. I love these cards. The layouts are just so new, fresh and creative.

  4. I love seeing something unique done with stamp sets. You really set the bar high! You really know how to pull all the elements together.

  5. WOW! I am in love with both of these gorgeous creations Karen! You’ve put together two really wonderful and creative cards, such great examples of all of these products! xx

  7. You have got such artistic talent, Karen! I l♥ve where this card took you….therapy, isn’t it the Best! Now you’ve got me wanting those brushos just when I told me hubby I’m not falling for new stuff and then leaving them behind (like what you did)…You are an enabler, but I like that! A Simply Beautiful Creation~
