The Stamp Review Crew: Labeler Alphabet

The Stamp Review Crew: Labeler Alphabet

Welcome to the Stamp Review Crew Blog Hop!  Today’s hop features the Labeler Alphabet stamp set. Using an alphabet stamp set by itself can be a challenge, so they are often used in combination with other stamps, like my project today.

If you are new to the crew… here’s a little info…
This is an international group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that gets together on the first and third Mondays of every month to do a blog hop. Each hop will focus on a single stamp set, giving you oodles of ideas and inspiration for that set!  No matter where you join in, just follow along until you’ve seen all the blogs. If you get lost along the way you can always click on the banner above to see the master list for this hop and catch up there!

The Stamp Review Crew: Labeler Alphabet Stampin' Up!. Black daisy with Berry Burst watercolor. Inker's Workshop 2017******************
I sort of went for the “bold is better” concept here, or at least that’s where it ended up! To get that strong color for the background, I used the new In Color ,Berry Burst, and it really makes those letters POP!

To get a similar look, use an Aqua painter to swoosh a small amount of water onto a piece of Shimmery White card stock. Grab some ink from the lid of your ink pad, and add your color of choice. Remember, the more ink you use, the deeper the color and the more water you use, the softer the color.  If you need to…let the first layer dry, and add more ink or water to get the look you’re after. I think the hardest part is learning to control the amount of water you use…so, it’s practice, practice, practice!

Labeler Alphabet With Black Daisy. Stamp Review Crew Hop June 2017. Inker's Workshop 2017

I actually made two samples of the same card today. This was the first version, but I felt that the black daisy took center stage, and I wanted those letters to really stand out, this hop is about the Labeler Alphabet…right!  So, I figured adding some color behind them would do the trick…and  whoa, did it ever!

Also, in the background is the ink blot from the Happy Celebrations set…stamped in black, and the splatter from the Timeless Textures stamp set, heat embossed in gold. When I started, I thought the black daisy would be strong enough to show up against the black ink blot, but they sort of blend together, so the gold splatter and the metallic thread help define the two.

It’s hard to capture the glimmer of the new Faceted Gems, but they are fantastic…what a fun way to add bling to your project!  You can find these cuties on page 197 of the new Annual Catalog.

Stamped Labeler Alphabet. Inker's Workshop 2017.

Does using the Labeler Alphabet make you uneasy?   Here’s a little tip that may help you…rather than stamping the letters individually, ink/stamp the entire sheet of the Labeler Alphabet all at once! That’s right, the entire thing!  By doing this, you can cut them apart (or use a small punch) to make your words…which also makes twisting and turning your letters a breeze.  It might not work for every project, but it may make a few of them easier!  Be sure to ink up your alphabet better than I did. LOL!

Enjoy!
Karen

  1. Stunning cards! I love both but the one with the pink is really dramatic! However, if I hadn’t seen the pink one, I would really be drawn to the other one! 😁

    • Hey, Linda! Thanks for your wonderful comment! I am sure I know your name from somewhere, so I checked it out, and I follow some of your boards on Pinterest, and I have seen a lot of your work that I just love! In the past I have not been much of a pink person, but then came the Strawberry Slush color, and now the Berry Burst, I feel they have both helped lead me down the path to loving pink, at least for a while anyway…lol!

Got something to say? Leave me a comment...I'd like that!
