The Stamp Review Crew: Colorful Seasons

Stamp Review Crew: Colorful Seasons

Hey Inker’s…today is my first hop as part of the Stamp Review Crew!

There is so much talent here, and I am so very excited that I have been invited to join this amazing group of artists!

If you are new to the crew… here’s a little info…

This is an international group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that gets together on the first and third Mondays of every month to do a blog hop. Each hop will focus on a single stamp set, giving you oodles of ideas and inspiration for that set!  No matter where you join in, just follow along until you’ve seen all the blogs. If you get lost along the way you can always click on the banner above to see the master list for this hop and catch up there!

Let the fun begin!

If you are following the hop in order, you just arrived here after visiting the talented Mickey Roberts!

Colorful Seasons Distressed Leaf Card. Stamp Review Crew hop. Inker's Workshop 2017

I am so easily sidetracked!  Sometimes when I have an idea for a project, I get distracted along the way and I never end up where I intended to go in the first place! Sound familiar to any of you?

Such is the case with today’s project, my plan was a nice clean card, but once I stamped the leaf and it came out, shall we say… less than perfect , it became all about the distressed look!  Maybe
my subconscious led the way, I have been wanting to play with the cardboard box from my last order!

Since I didn’t get a good solid image of my leaf, out came the Seasonal Layers Thinlits and the Gold Foil Sheets. I cut and layered a gold leaf over the top of the offending image and ta dah, I’m off in a different direction!

Colorful Seasons Distressed Leaf Card. Stamp Review Crew hop. detail leaf and gesso. Inker's Workshop 2017

I tore off the flap of the Stampin’ Up! box and cut a square larger than the leaf so I could tear the edges. I was just going to use white ink on the front, but I had some old gesso begging to be used up, so I went with that, and I just used my fingers to spread it around (messy, but fun!) I am happy to say that Stampin’ Up! has some Embossing Paste available in the new Annual Catalog, I can’t wait to get my hands on that! It should be thicker than the gesso, which means better coverage and great for stenciling!  I used a Sponge Dauber to ink the edges in Crumb Cake and Early Espresso, then wrapped Metallic Thread around the cardboard before layering it onto a small piece of Gold Foil, and of course, I topped it off with a sparkly little rhinestone!

Psst…the ink splatter you see in the background is from the Timeless Textures stamp set, I couldn’t help myself, it was the perfect finishing touch!

Thanks for hopping today!  The next stop is Rochelle Blok, I can’t wait to see what she has to share!

    • Thanks so much, Kelly! I love seeing how many ideas and styles there are here on the SRC…so much talent among the group, and I am grateful to have been invited to be a part of it!

  2. This is just head-explodingly-gorgeous! What a “happy mistake” with the original stamping that produced this beauty!

    • Oh, Terry, what a great comment! I don’t know about head-exploding, but thanks! Things rarely go as planned for me when it comes to crafting, but that’s part of the fun, don’t you think?

Got something to say? Leave me a comment...I'd like that!
