Card & Candy Combo!

Hey Stampers!
Today’s Card & Candy Combo is the perfect project
if you are still looking for some Valentine’s Day inspiration!

Card & Candy Combo! Valentine 2017 Inker's Workshop

Making this bag wasn’t even in my head, until I cut the heart out!

Shoot… I should have called this post EAT YOUR HEART OUT
instead! Get it? Just a random thought going through my head..

Anyway…I had already cut a four inch strip off the 12 X12 sheet
(Urban Underground) and was just going to make a quick cut for
the card, but when I started to put the paper away, I was holding
it end to end, and got the idea for this bag…proof that inspiration
can strike at any time!

This card & candy combo is all about the framelits & thinlits!

The card is super easy to put together using Multi-purpose glue
and Stampin’ Dimensionals, there’s not even a stamp in sight!

I must be sick or something…I rarely make a project without
inking up something…mostly my fingers!

The clear bag inside holding the candy is actually a
clear envelope…more on that in a minute.

For the outer shell with the heart, cut a strip of paper
measuring 4″ X 12″.  Place your heart shaped framelit
about 2″ from the top, leaving room for the topper and
words, etc. Cut out the framelit, using the heart shape
for the card.

Score the sheet 5″ from each end, and fold. That leaves a 2″
space at the bottom for the candy.

There was a mad search in my craft room for a gusseted bag
to use for the candy, I have all the sizes of bags…somewhere!
Do you think I could find them, nope!  So, necessity is the
mother of invention here!

I had plenty of clear envelopes, so, I added glue dots to the
bottom corners of the envelope and folded them back towards
the center of the bag. This creates a wider bottom that’s flat,
which helps make room for the candy, where the gusset would
normally be. Since the candy is already wrapped, there is no
worry using a clear envelope.

Fold in the sides of the envelope, and move the candy
around to fit into the space, using a staple to hold it in
place. Fold up the front with the heart, and add a staple
at each end and in the middle to further hold the bag
of candy…candy is heavy.

TIP: If you find the bottom is sagging from the weight of the
candy, cut a piece of card stock 2″ X 4″ and add it to the
bottom center. I added a piece of black to the bottom of mine.

Now, for all the goodies…add a topper, the words, and arrows,
wrap linen thread around the topper, and give the card some
more love with a little red heart and some rhinestones!

Happy Crafting!
