Lettuce and tomatoes!
It’s that time of year when gardeners everywhere are itching to get outside
and feel the soil between their fingers and under their nails. If you have a
gardener in your life, here’s a sweet little gift just for them.
Of course…you could fill this little criss cross card (say that five times fast)
with a host of different goodies…recipe cards for the cook, movie tickets, etc.
It would be perfect for those trinkets from a trip… like pictures or brochures
of all the places you visited along the way.
Up close you can see that I fussy cut the lettuce and tomatoes..all from the
Farmer’s Market Designer Series Pack (a favorite of mine!). It only took a
few minutes to get done and it makes all the difference in the presentation
of the gift.
The base is made from Corrugated Paper (kraft), it’s cut 5 1/2″ X 10 3/4″ and
scored at 7 1/2″ and 3 3/4″. HInt* score from the inside if you want it to cross over
from the left, score from the outside if you want it to cross over from the right.
Use your Stampin’ Trimmer to cut from the top to the outside corner. Line up
the tip of the fold line with the bottom corner using the cutting track in the
trimmer as a guide, but check your paper to make sure it’s not upside down
before you cut…ask me how I know this 🙂
To close up the bottom, add some Tear & Tape Adhesive on the inside of each
flap, and fold over…Tah Dah!
Pieces of scrap (Farmer’s Market DSP) were used for the belly band, the adhesive
is only on the outside edges so you can slip in goodies… like the lettuce and tomatoes,
but it could be anything. Linen thread is wrapped around several times, and tied in a
bow with a fussy cut tomato popped on top for a finishing touch.
What a fun project to make!
Be sure to give a gift like this to a gardener in your life and you’ll probably
reap the rewards in the form or fresh lettuce and tomatoes from their garden.
Sounds like a win-win to me!
