PPA284 Sketch Challenge: My Optical Illusion

Good Morning, Stampers!

This sketch challenge just pulled me right in, it’s a little unusual…
and it kept calling my name.

I used my very favorite DSP, Timeless Elegance…I know what you’re
thinking…great, here we go again! There were some pieces of this beautiful
paper left over from a recent card making binge (went through almost an
entire pack), so I just had to use it…besides it goes perfectly with that
black background paper…oh yeah!

The circle with the rose on the black background is a full circle, when I put
it down, I was working on a different idea that included Vellum. I didn’t like the way
it was turning out, so I had to try a few things before coming up with the idea of
the words and another half circle for the top layer. I’m glad I had to rethink this..it
came out way better than the original idea…I love the unexpected, don’t you?!

Check out www.palspaperarts.com and see how this
sketch inspired everyone else!

I tried to get a good pic of the pop up showing the two different layers, but I couldn’t
get a good handle on it and take a photo at the same time..but you get it, right?

The envelope is also lined with the same great paper…it was the last
piece…now, I will have to buy another package…just can’t help myself!

Love this paper… Love this sketch…Enjoy!

  1. Beautiful, Karen! I LOVE this designer paper…and I love how you used it on the card and to line the envelope. Thanks for playing with the Sketch Team at Pals Paper Arts!

    • Thanks, Ann! This designer paper is one of my all time favorites from Stampin’Up! A close second is the Farmer’s Market. Do I have a paper addiction? Hmmm….

  2. Oh Em Gee…your card literally took my breath away! Entries always remind me of something in my past and yours reminds me of my sweet Grandmother (I was named after). She was born in 1899 and she shared stories with me about beautiful rose gardens. I used to picture the stories in black & white (LOL) and your DSP is what I have always envisioned. Thank you for entering the PPA sketch challenge that I was a guest designer on, it has certainly brought back so many sweet memories.

    • Maggie, What a great story about your Grandmother…little bits and pieces of the past are so much fun to read about…what great memories for you to have! Thanks for inspiring us all with your great sketch…I’m looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the next one!
