Watercolor Wings Series #3

Good morning Inker’s…ready for number three?

Summer seems to be slipping by around my house, the leaves are turning yellow on all of my trees and the mornings are much cooler these days…and it’s still August!  Outside, the butterflies will soon be gone for the winter…but don’t worry, you can see them anytime of year around here!

Watercolor Wings Series #3

InkersWorkshop Watercolor Wings Series #3Since black and gold is one of my favorite combo’s, I’m constantly on the lookout for ways to incorporate it into my cards. That means when an idea doesn’t quite cut it for the project I’m working on, it goes into the stash pile. Lots of good things are in the stash pile… die cuts, backgrounds, shapes, and greetings stamped in different colors..I keep it all!

Today’s card is made entirely from the scrap pile!
(except the card base, of course!)

The background is Gorgeous Grunge, the gold butterfly is from the Butterflies Thinlits, the paper behind the butterfly and the rose (colored with Cherry Cobbler) are from the Timeless Elegance DSP, which if you’ve seen this blog, you will probably recognize from several cards and a Shabby Style Baker’s Box!

Warning!!! There will be more…I have another card ready, I’m just hooked on this DSP!

InkersWorkshop Watercolor Wings #3 (details)When you look at the details, you can see the paper behind the butterfly…
it’s the black lace design from the pack. The Antique Brad already had the rhinestone adhered to it, so all I really did was put the pieces together and …TAH DAH!
Oh… I did add a few ink splats on the rose and a single rhinestone for a bit of bling.

Some of my favorite cards come from putting together all the weird pieces I have leftover from something else that didn’t work!

Until next time…Karen

  2. I just love your gold butterfly and black card with the elegant rose!! The whole card is beautiful. My question: What did you use to cut out the gold butterfly?? Thank you for sharing!

    • Hello Rosalie,
Thanks for popping by my blog! I’m happy to answer your question…for the butterflies, I used the Butterfly Thinlits (page 172 of the Annual Catalog) to cut them out with the Bigshot. I also used the Gold Foil Sheet (pg 148 AC), and the Black Lace sheet of paper from the Timeless Elegance DSP (pg 143 AC) is cut out and used underneath the gold piece for a background. I hope that’s the answer you’re looking for.

I’m glad you like the card…I would love to see a pic if you make one of your own!

Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.

FYI: I just got your second e-mail from the about section of my blog telling me you sent the first question. No worries, the first one landed right where it was supposed to!

Thanks again for stopping by…I’m glad you saw Mary’s post today!
