Stamp Of The Month: Something Lacy 1

Hey, Inkers!

Another month has passed us by!  Wow…that went fast!  Winter is almost over, and out here in the west we haven’t gotten nearly enough snow!  It sure would be nice if the people back east could share!  I bet they think so too, I’m sure they are tired of winter by now!

In with the new…the “Stamp Of The Month” for March will be Something Lacy, it’s a background stamp that would be great to use for any wedding project you may have, or it would make a very pretty “girly” card. Here, it’s a little faded and sits behind the word thanks, (which is a diecut), and makes the perfect backdrop for this cute little thank you card!

Stamp Of The Month: Something Lacy 1

Something Lacy--Thanks

Something Lacy is available in the Occasions Catalog (Jan 6- June 2, 2015).

To get a similar “faded” look for the background, lay your stamp with the design face up. Have your card stock cut and ready to use, I like to use a piece that’s 4 1/4″ x  5 1/2″ to stamp with, and then I can cut it down to the size I want later.  When you ink up the stamp, make sure to vary the pressure you use with the ink pad.  You’re not looking for perfect ink with want some imperfection here!  Start at one end of the background stamp and lay down your card stock.  Rub the surface of the card stock, using more pressure in some areas. Carefully lift the card stock off of the stamp, tweezers can be a big help here..if you’re using your fingers, you can leave prints if you’re not careful.  Some areas of the design will be less noticeable than others depending on the pressure you use when you rub the surface of the card stock. If the ink looks a little too dark for the faded look, repeat the process, only stamp off once before you put the card stock down to rub it.

To pull this card together, just add a doily, a die cut (Hello You Thinlits Dies) and a bit of bling!  You can change it up…use one of the other three images from the dies, or use one of the other in-colors…this would be great made up in sets to give as gifts!

Looking forward…Daylight Savings starts tomorrow, and the first day of Spring is right around the corner!  I have lettuce that popped up in my garden that I’ve been watering for a couple of weeks…in February! Longer days means more time outside and more inspiration for my projects, I can hardly wait to get out and find some good markets this year!.

Where do you look for inspiration… Is it a trip, your garden, or fellow crafters?
