Good Morning Fellow Stampers!
I love earth tones! They feel all warm and cozy, like a big fat hug! In fact, if you look around my house, you will find a lot of earth tones. From my brown kitchen (yes, I said brown, and it’s awesome! ) to my golden living room walls and the pumpkin colored guest room. There’s a few exceptions, like my craft area, it’s painted entirely with black chalkboard paint! (That’s a subject for another day!) Let’s not get sidetracked though…back to the earth tones :).
I have “Another Autumn Thanks” card to share with you today. It’s made using some of the latest “in colors” so it’s just like getting a warm hug when you open the envelope! Who wouldn’t like that?
Another Autumn ThanksI finally tried using the blendabilities (love those BABS) on those cute little wooden leaves I bought. I’ve been toying with the idea and now it just seemed to fit. One tip: The colors seem to come out a little darker on the wood than they do on paper, so beware, use very little at first to see how it spreads and how dark it is. You can always add more. I got carried away playing with a couple and ended up with something I couldn’t use for this project (I will have to repurpose those…a little Scrap Magic perhaps?).
I also experimented with a new (to me) technique using several inks and some daubers. I know there is a proper name for this technique but it certainly escapes me now that I’m writing about it. Ha! Wouldn’t ya know! Anyway…I took several ink pads and using a dauber I started with the lightest color first and “pounced” the color onto the stamp in the areas I wanted to highlight. Then I layered on the remaining colors (using a separate dauber for each color), making sure not to cover too much of the stamp, you want all of the colors to show through. This is the end result, what do you think? It’s super easy, give it a try!
Does anyone out there know the name for this technique? If you do, give me a shout! I’d love to hear from you! Leave a comment by clicking on the word bubble at the top of the post or use the reply button below. Let us all know!
The more we share, the more we learn!
Thanks For Stopping By Today!
