Christmas Wishes All Aglow

Christmas Wishes All Aglow

I have to admit, I am way behind with Christmas this year…who else out there needs to step it up at the last minute?  Where has the time gone… it will be 2018 in just a few weeks!!
****************

Christmas Wishes All Aglow! Inker's Workshop 2017

This quick card only takes a few cuts of paper and some heat embossing to get done!  The Merry Little Christmas Designer Series paper and the Wishes All Aglow stamp set are both on the retirement list, so if you can’t get them, use the design and simply swap out what you have to help get you to the finish line!
********************

Christmas Wishes All Aglow! Case the catty Ho Ho Ho pillow box. Inker's Workshop 2017

This fun gift box is a CASE from the catty,  it’s what sold me on the set!  Those light bulbs were just too dang cute for me…and I am also a big pillow box fan!

Turns out the black and green color combo was a hot subject!  What do you think, was the black and green combo a hit or a miss?

That’s all for now…still working on that list!

Merry Christmas…
Have A Fabulous Day!

Suffering from Christmas card burn out? Give your mind a break and make this pair of quick cards!

Simple Wood Words Duo! Inky heart card. Inker's Workshop 2017

The most work on this inky heart card is the square of water coloring. It started as a large piece of watercolor paper, water was added with an Aqua Painter, then Crumb Cake ink was moved around and allowed to dry. Once dry, some extra splats of ink were added.  Only the top left corner was cut out and used for this card, so there’s still almost a full sheet of color to use for a later project…gotta love that!  The greeting “love” is from the Lovely Friends set, it just seemed to fit the space and the curvy nature of the font looks great with the bold wood grain!
******************

Simple Wood Words Duo! Masculine hello card. Inker's Workshop 2017

Even though both cards are done in neutral, this second card takes on a more masculine feel. So, we sort of have a his and hers thing going on here. Not sure where the idea for the “bullseye” came from, things just happen, so you roll with it…especially if it’s a manly card, they can be so hard to come up with!

Both cards can be done up in a short amount of time…enough of a distraction from the “to do list” of the season, but not so much to get you off track. Sometimes we need a quick project to break things up and take the pressure off, then we can go back and really focus on what we need to do!

Stamp Review Crew: Painted Harvest!

Stamp Review Crew: Painted Harvest!

Welcome to the hop!

The SRC is an international group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that come together on the first and third Mondays of every month for a blog hop. Each artist will feature projects using the same stamp set, providing you with oodles of inspiration that will get you stamping!

This week we will feature the PAINTED HARVEST stamp set!  If you get lost along the way, click on the banner above, it will take you to the main blog where you can see the master list …Happy Hopping!

Stamp Review Crew: Painted Harvest! Inker's Workshop 2017 table setting with leaves

Today I am sharing a couple of projects that are simple enough to get done in a hurry…like this table setting! These little Treat Tubes from the SU Holiday Catalog are so much fun to incorporate into your decorating!  Sunflower seeds were added to this one, going with the idea that you could sprinkle the seeds onto your salad plate (at least that’s what popped into my head when I saw the seeds at the grocery store). Of course, not everyone will have salad or want seeds if they do, but I like the idea of letting them add their own, and this is a fun way of doing that!

**********************

Stamp Review Crew: Painted Harvest! Inker's Workshop 2017 plain table setting

Here’s the more plain version, without the Foil Snowflake and the Boxwood Wreath Embellishment, which was added later because, well, I just had to know if it would look better. It might be more user friendly without the snowflake and leaves, you decide.  Remember, you can always switch things out for whatever your occasion is, but this would be fun on a Thanksgiving table, it’s a little different from the usual, but still within the Autumn season!

****************************

Stamp Review Crew; Painted Harvest! Inker's Workshop 2017. Card with envelope

A simple card of thanks. This flower can look so different depending on the colors you choose to stamp it in, how you stamp it (turning it), or by adding a small amount of water to get a slightly more watercolor look like this one. After I ran the Aqua Painter over it, I fussy cut it, and then inked the edges, and added some splatter … what, me, splatter?

******************************

This 4 X 4 gift box is like a square matchbox, but you can make it the size you want!  Grab your Envelope Punch Board and head on over to Box Buster… from The Crafty Owl.

Masculine Wood Textures Gift Box And Card Combo! Open box. Inker's Workshop 2017

*****************
Here’s a look inside, I added a square of Wood Textures Designer Series paper for the liner, it pulls everything together and looks great too…love this paper!

Once you are on the Box Buster site, add the dimensions of your finished box and it will tell  you what size paper you need and where to score/punch for your box. Fold on the score lines, snip to make tabs for the top and bottom, turn in the tabs, fold up the ends and adhere the folds down inside the box bottom, then fold in the sides and glue those down …but don’t forget to make a finger notch first!

For the outside of the box…cut your card stock to size and wrap it around the outside of the box, remove the card stock and score/crease the folds. Wrap around the box and adhere edges,  making sure the box can slide easily, but it’s not too loose.

Have A Fabulous Day!

Modern Merry Christmas for #GDP109

Modern Merry Christmas for #GDP109!

This week’s color challenge from Global Design project really caught my eye!
The minute I saw it, I knew I wanted to use Old Olive for a watercolor background
(which was super fun), and when everything came together…this happened!

Modern Merry Christmas For #GDP109! Inker's Workshop 2017

Some spare parts from my “stash” came together for this fun, modern card including:

• Gold Foil Snowflakes cut with Swirly Snowflakes Thinlits Dies
• Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper (2 good sized chunks)
• Basic Black circles cut with Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies (2 sizes).
• Gold Metallic Thread, cut and saved from another project.

I love to create using odds and ends, so I tend to cut extras of my favorite dies to have on hand, and there’s a special box for my leftover snippets of DSP.  Sometimes when a project doesn’t come together (it happens) I move on… placing all the cut pieces in my mini mason jars where they wait until they find a home on another project…like today’s Modern Merry Christmas!

What a fun color combo!  If you would like to see what others are making for this challenge or even add your own project…click the banner above and check out the Global Design Project!
**********

Modern Merry Christmas for #GDP 109! Inker's Workshop 2017,details.

This close up shows the contrast of color, dark where it puddled up and lighter where there was more water than ink.  I love how it turned out!

Shh….The snowflake peaking out from underneath was wounded in action and had a parts missing, so I shrewdly placed it under the DSP…as if it were meant to be 🙂  I like to use what I have before cutting into something new…even if it’s not perfect….there may be a home for it somewhere!

Have A Fabulous Day!

 Stamp Review Crew: Beautiful You!

The SRC is an international group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that come together on the first and third Mondays of every month for a blog hop. Each artist will feature projects using the same stamp set, providing you with oodles of inspiration that will get you stamping!

This week we will feature the Beautiful You stamp set from the Annual Catalog!  If you get lost along the way, click on the banner above, it will take you to the main blog where you can see the master list …Happy Hopping!

Hey Stampers…are you ready for a fantastic hop?  I only have one project to share with you today, but it’s a dandy!  Check out how I changed a plain composition book into something special for my favorite writer!
*********

Stamp Review Crew: Beautiful You! Inker's Workshop 2017 composition tablet cover

My daughter is a gifted writer (yes, I’m partial), but rarely finds time to just write for the joy of it …like she used to…you know before real life took over. Now she finds herself in the middle of a career change and she is feeling a twinge of anxiety about how things will turn out  Knowing that one of her favorite things in life is to listen to it rain while she writes, I thought this umbrella lady walking in the rain would be the perfect starting point for my project!

Stamp Review Crew: Beautiful You! Inker's Workshop 2017 embossing paste, dictionary pg, umbrella girl.

Here’s the beginning stages…umbrella lady is stamped in Basic Grey on Shimmering White card stock, I added wisps of color streaked across her to help show movement (I really just play and see what happens). More stamping with the Post Script stamp in the corners (she also loves to travel), and a dictionary page is torn and glued down.

Oh…I should mention that the Shimmering White was cut to size for the front cover of the composition book before starting the project.

This also shows the first layer of embossing paste.  After the first layer was dry, I added a bit more to cover areas that didn’t make me happy…like at the bottom around umbrella lady. Then a lot of drying time.

Stamp Review Crew: Beautiful You! 2 Inker's Workshop 2017 Detail ink & words. write

Ink up close!  I wanted drips to run down the front, instead I ended up with a more water colored look, so more of the writing from the dictionary page was covered up than I had planned on…it happens (got carried away with the spritzer..lol)  I also added the coffee stain stamp from the Timeless Textures stamp set in Rich Razzleberry to resemble the bottom of a wine glass. More distressing in black ink with Black Twine and Vintage Crochet Trim in black along the edge adds detail.
**********************

Stamp Review Crew: Beautiful You! detail umbrella girl, composition tablet cover.
Umbrella lady…I stamped her in Basic Grey at the beginning, but she faded into the background too much…Watercolor Pencils to the rescue!  I traced over her with a black watercolor pencil, then added some scratch marks , and colored her dress a bit too, now she looks all wind blown and moody, don’t you think?  I inked up a separate umbrella and cut it out by hand to layer on top of the first one, I think it really stands out that way.

***********
On the inside…pages from the Just Add Color Specialty Designer Series Paper resemble the old feather pens that were dipped in ink to write letters back in the day…she will love that since she has an inkwell and feather pen for a tattoo!  She can color these or write over the top of the design …whatever she wants.

When I was finished with the design, and all of the layers were dry, I used the Multipurpose Liquid Glue to adhere the piece to the front of the composition book. I used clips to hold it in place until it was dry, added the black crochet trim, and then let it sit for a few days before actually handling it.

Maybe with a nudge from a book that screams “write” in huge letters, my favorite author will find time for some ink therapy of her own and take a few minutes everyday to jot down a paragraph or two.  I tried to include several things she’s fond of to encourage her to pick it up and use it…I hope she likes…I had a blast making it!

Have A Fabulous Day!

Delightful Daisy Set Of Six!

Hey Everyone!

I am sharing a super simple card set today!  Remember a few years back when it was all the rage to cut a bunch of card fronts from a single sheet of paper?  Well, I’m bringing it back for today’s project…it works great with the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper…plus I really wanted to use that acetate box!

Cut the remainder of the sheet into 4″ x 51/4″ rectangles.  Wrap three of the pieces with ribbon, and add a swirl of sequins to the other three. Mount them onto black card bases using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Delightful Daisy Set Of Six! 2 samples with envelope. Inker's Workshop 2017

Stamp the greeting (Painted Harvest) with a VersaMark ink pad on black card stock, and heat emboss in white. Cut them out with the oval from the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies, and layer them over the ribbon, and sequins to finish.

Make two designs (three of each) like the cards above or make all six the same…it’s up to you, and don’t forget to stamp the back of the envelope!

These are super quick to get done, and make a great gift when you put them in an acetate box wrapped with beautiful ribbon!

Today’s first project is one way to share a small coffee treat with someone special!
******************

Stamp Review Crew: Merry Cafe' Inker's Workshop 2017 Coffee pillow box

I can’t believe that Fall is only a few days away!  The time seems to go by faster every year!  All the more reason to enjoy each day…don’t you think?  One of my favorite ways to start the day is with a hot cup of coffee, no matter the weather, I head straight for the coffee pot each morning. I wasn’t always a coffee lover, and if you asked me to drink it black, well, that’s just not happening! I was a life long tea drinker, until I found those flavored coffee creamers at the market! I have food allergies, and struggle finding pre-made items that I can have. So, after reading the labels and finding I could have a certain brand, I decided that I would try one out…thinking it could be some sort of sweet treat since I had to give up some of my favorites (like OREOS & milk…sniff). One cup was all it took… and I am hooked!  Now, I start each day with a sweet treat in my coffee cup!

Inside this cute little pillow box package you will find coffee, sugar, stir sticks etc.  I could not, however, fit in the creamer…the best part!  That will have to come in a separate package…hmm, maybe I should make a coffee bundle. If you do happen to know someone who likes their coffee black, this would be the perfect little gift to help them PERK UP!
*************

Stamp Review Crew: Merry Cafe' Inker's Workshop 2017 perk up

I just love that little coffee cup with the steam rising from it. It’s the perfect size for a small space, and works great on this belly band!

Stamp Review Crew: Merry Cafe' Inker's Workshop 2017 cut pillow box.

The little pillow box that holds the treats is from the Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies, also in the Holiday Catalog. To get this look, cut one side of the top end off along the embossed curve, leaving the opposite side standing up, creating the open box to fill.

Next…

It’s pumpkin spice latte season!

Stamp Review Crew: Merry Cafe' Inker's Workshop Hello Fall pumpkin cup

Are you one of those people who are saying “enough with the pumpkin stuff already”?
Not me!  I am the one who can’t get enough of the pumpkin flavored creamer that’s about to hit the stores…I’m ready!  Anybody else?  I stamped the cup full of pumpkins..because you know, I love pumpkin!  I also sneaked in those Vellum snowflakes in the background.  They were cut outs left over from another project, and while they are not really for Fall, I liked them, so I used them…waste not, want not!  Oh,such a rule breaker…haha!
********

Stamp Review Crew: Merry Cafe' Inker's Workshop card Hello Fall pumpkin in a cup

Just a closer look at those cutie patootie pumpkins!

Update…I just saw a commercial for the newest flavor, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup!!! I can’t wait to get my hands on some of that….so excited…it’s the little things…lol!

Cute 3 X 3 Quilt Cards In A Pizza Box!

Hey everyone…it’s launch day!
The new Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog goes live today!

There’s fifty-five pages of stamping goodness inside, and trying to decide what to share with you today was no easy task!  So, I combined several of my new favorites from the catty, and came up with these super Cute 3 X 3 Quilt Cards In A Pizza Box!
*******************

Cute 3 X 3 Quilt Cards In A Pizza Box! Inkers' Workshop 2017. belly band off open box

I combined the black & white plaid from the Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper (love this paper, wish I could get an entire pack of it!) with the Quilt Builder Framelits Dies to make this adorable set of cards!  The plaid paper also makes up the belly band and covers the back flap of our new 3 X 3 envelopes…more cute factor!!!
********************

Cute 3 X 3 Quilt Cards In A Pizza Box! card/envelope********************
There’s six Cute 3 X 3 Quilt Cards with matching envelopes inside the pizza box. The box will hold more than that if they were flat,  but these have a bit of dimension with the snowflake and rhinestone, so I stuck with six. The snowflake is cut from Vellum using the new Trim Your Stocking Thinlits Dies, it took on a blue tone here. but it’s quite sheer & lovely in person!
****************

Cute 3X 3 Quilt Cards In A Pizza Box! Inker's Workshop 2017 pizza box/ belly band/ribbon

How stinkin’ cute is this pizza box?!  I just love it…squeeee!!!!  The belly band may help keep things inside the box, but the finishing touch is that awesome wired ribbon…another item from the Merry Little Christmas Suite!

Notice anything?  I forgot to make a gift tag…can you believe that!  I think that pizza box distracted me….LOL!  Certainly, it’s not the end of the world, but I wish one would have made it into the photo…darn!!

Cute 3 X 3 Quilt Cards In A Pizza Box!

Stamp Review Crew: Window Shopping Edition!

Welcome to The Stamp Review Crew: Window Shopping Edition!

If you are new to the crew… here’s a little info…

This is an international group of Stampin’ Up! demonstrators that gets together on the first and third Mondays of every month to do a blog hop. Each hop will focus on a single stamp set, giving you oodles of ideas and inspiration for that set!

No matter where you join in, just follow along until you’ve seen all the blogs. If you get lost along the way you can always click on the banner above to see the master list for this hop and catch up there!

Now. on to today’s projects…

Stamp Review Crew: Window Shopping Edition. Inker's Workshop 2017

Thinking of you….I chose to focus on a single greeting for this card, and I heat embossed it on black card stock to  make it really “POP” against that colorful background!.
************************

Stamp Review Crew: Window Shopping Edition. Watercolor background. Inker's Workshop 2017

The background is a mix of Crushed Curry, Pumpkin Pie, Melon Mambo and a touch of Cajun Craze ink …on watercolor paper. I gave the paper a light spray of water (Spritzer), and then used my Aqua Painter to add ink from the top of my ink pad. Once it was dry, I flicked water on it to create more movement, and I added just a touch of black splatter to pull it together with the greeting.

The leaves are cut from the Just Add Color Specialty Designer Series Paper (Annual Catalog), if you don’t mind a little fussy cutting, this DSP is just loaded with options!  Lemon Lime Twist and Old Olive markers were used for coloring, with a light touch of the Aqua Painter at the end to try and blend in those rough spots.

NEXT…

Stamp Review Crew: Window Shopping Edition. Candles & black plaid. Inker's Workshop 2017

My second project today…

I really struggled with the idea of sharing this, the photo did not come out very well. It has a lot of glare, and you really can’t tell there is gold Foil Sheeting behind those candles! Try as I might, I could not get a good photograph of it, and the picture does not really do this card justice. That being said, this is a place about sharing ideas, not how perfect my photo is, right?  So, let’s just go with it and share…maybe it will spark and idea or two!
************************

Stamp Review Crew: Window Shopping Edition. side view, Inker's Workshop 2017
I used some fun plaid paper from the new Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper (available Sept.1st in the new Holiday Catalog)…I’m loving this plaid, and I had to use it the minute I got it in my pre-order…Christmas card or not! The candles are cut using the coordinating Window Box Thinlits, and backed with a piece of Gold Foil Sheet. Torn paper, black splatter and gold embossing make up the background layers, with a few sequins to finish it off.

Did you notice?  I am seeing this type of buffalo plaid all over Pinterest in home decorating!  Once again, Stampin’ Up! is right on trend with it’s design choices…way to go SU!

Enjoy!

Brick & Beer Retirement Card!

Welcome to the August 2017 Pals Blog Hop. Thank you so much for joining us today. This month we’re going to “Cut It Out”. Participants will feature projects with “cuts” from punches, dies, Framelits, Edgelits, or Thinlits.

Whether you’re just starting the hop, or have come from a previous Pal’s blog, you’ll find the line-up toward the end of my post to help you move along.
***************************

Brick & Beer Retirement Card! Inker's Workshop. with matching envelope

Most of us look forward to the day we no longer have the daily grind of a 9-5 job!  Retirement is one of the biggest milestones in our life, and it’s cause for a bit of celebration!  This Brick & Beer Retirement Card would be perfect for the new retiree who loves ’em some suds, don’t you think?
********************************

Brick & Ber Retirement Card! Inker's Workshop 2017

I don’t drink beer, but I love those little pubs and coffee shops that have all the exposed brick on the walls and the industrial lighting… I could spend hours in those places!  That’s what this card reminds me of…comfortable surroundings and being with good friends, something we all look forward to doing more of once we retire!
**************************************

Brick & Beer Retirement Card! Inker's Workshop 2017 Beer Mug

How adorable is this little mug!!  It’s stamped on Crushed Curry card stock in Black Archival ink. After fussy cutting the mug, I colored in the handle and edges with a Crumb Cake marker, and added more ink with a Sponge Dauber to make the beer appear darker at the bottom. A Basic Black marker was used around all the edges to help define the shape. I stamped another mug on Whisper White, and cut out the “foam” by hand (also colored with Crumb Cake) and then layered it on top with some Stampin’ Dimensionals.  HINT: If you slightly off set the white foam, it will add more dimension. When finished, the mug was layered onto a circle cut from the Stitched Shapes Framelits…I think those little stitches add so much detail to any project!
*******************************

********************************
See that greeting?  It’s made using the Classic Label Punch.  Stamp, emboss and punch out your greeting.  Punch out a second label, cut it in half down the center (vertically) and glue it to the back side of the first label, extending the ends out past the original to get this layered look!  HINT: if you use Multipurpose Liquid Glue here, you can move it around to get perfect placement.

That brick background is a happy accident!!  It’s dry embossed with the Brick Wall embossing folder on Whisper White Thick card stock. I tried to experiment and rub Black Archival Ink all over it so the “grout” would stand out (I do this all the time, but have never used the Black Archival Ink)…what a mess I had, ink all over me and big circles on the brick where the dauber landed, not such a good look.  So,I spritzed it…gasp!  This is not what archival ink is meant for….this must be what living life on the edge feels like…lol!

We’ve been told over and over that the Whisper White card stock will pill and not hold up to water, and it’s true, I’ve had it happen. However, with this experiment, I broke the rules and it worked!  Remember, the bricks were already embossed on the Thick Whisper White, so I made sure not to soak the paper, and I did not rub it at all. I lightly sprayed it, holding it away from the main force of the water, and I got a great result! It smoothed out those weird circles and there are some pretty green and purple hues of color seeping out from the black ink. I laid it upside down and put an ink pad on top to keep it flat, and when it was dry… it looked great!  I roughed up the edges, tore down one side and then inked the edges in black and Crumb Cake. It’s layered onto some black card stock (with torn edges) and more ink splats were added to finish it off. It’s fun to experiment, don’t you think?  You never know what will happen!

Love me some ink!

Have A Fabulous Day!
Karen

Dirty Daisy Gift Card Holder for TTTC007

Hello Stampers,  I found another challenge to join in on today…the Tic Tac Toe Challenge!  You choose a row from the board (horizontal, vertical or diagonal) and use those items to make your project.  How fun is that!
***************************

Dirty Daisy Gift Card Holder! #tttc007 Inker's Workshop 2017

For my Dirty Daisy Gift Card Holder, I chose the vertical row on the right…it includes diecut, floral and yellow…. I immediately thought of the Delightful Daisy Suite!  The Designer Series Paper is perfect for a gift bag, and the new Daisy Punch is hot, hot, hot!  Stampin’ Up! can hardly keep up with the demand it’s so popular! Right now it’s not even available to order, but not to worry, if you haven’t already gotten yours (and you just can’t stand the idea of being left out), they should be available again to order by July 31st…so keep your eyes peeled if you want one, and be sure to get it!
**********************************************

Tic Tac Toe Challenge Board 007

Here’s a look at the entire board for this challenge, #tttc007…which row would you choose?
***************************

Dirty Daisy Gift Card Holder! Close up. #tttc007 Inker's Workshop 2017

Up close you can see there are several layers here…you can also see where I got the name Dirty Daisy…sometimes the ink gets away from you…but, just roll with it!
***************************

Dirty Daisy Gift Card Holder! Inside. Inker's Workshop 2017

Simply pull out the card inside the bag to reveal the gift card!  You can temporarily adhere the gift card to the card stock using Snail, just remember not to put the adhesive on the magnetic strip…lol!  I did not quite finish the inside here, I wanted to write a few personal notes, so I left that for after the photo shoot.  I will add some stamping and do my writing before sending it off. Wish I could have found a gift card with these colors… or even a daisy on it…that would have been great!
************************

Dirty Daisy Gift Card Holder! doily wrapped around to back. #tttc007 Inker's Workshop 2017

Back of the bag detail….the doily is wrapped front to back instead of cutting it off even with the front edge…leaving a nice smooth edge.
*****************

Dirty Daisy details:

  • Cut out and assemble the gift bag using Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper and the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.
  • For the inside card, cut a piece of Daffodil Delight card stock measuring 3 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ . Use the scallop from the Seasonal Layers Thinlets to create the curvy top and then punch out a circle in the middle of each scallop using a hand punch.
  • Wrap a Delicate White Doily from front to back.
  • Add swirls cut from the Swirly Scribbles Thinlets (mine are from my stash), and layer them on over the doily. This is the perfect example of why you need a stash!
  • Add a piece of white 3/8″ classic Weave Ribbon, tied in a knot.
  • The greeting is from the Graceful Garden set and it’s cut out with the tag from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits.
  • use the Daisy Punch to cut out 2 daisies, (both white, ink one up with Daffodil Delight), layer the two together (after they are distressed) with a Stampin’ Dimensional and top with a Faceted Gem;
  • The bag, card, swirls, greeting tag, and daisies have a lot of inked edges (Crumb Cake) I use a Sponge Dauber, but a sponge will work just as well.  Distress your edges etc, while you are working, if you wait and try to ink the finished project, it will not be fun!

I hope you enjoyed today’s project….want to choose a row in the next challenge?  Head on over to www.tictactoechallenge.com and get all the details!

Have A Fabulous Day!

Single Red Rose For GDP096

Here’s a  Single Red Rose For GDP096!   Many of you know I love to play along when there’s a challenge…I think it helps exercise my stamping muscles and gives my mojo a lift!  How many of you love a challenge?

Single Red Rose For #GDP096 Inker's Workshop 2017This week’s challenge is to CASE (copy and selectively edit) the designer Tanja Kolar..a talented member of the Global Design Team !  I love the simple design of her card and was excited to make my own version.  I have a love / hate relationship with clean and simple projects, I tend to want to add ink…and then more ink to the many layers of my projects…yep, guilty as charged! Maybe I should join Inker’s Anonymous?…Nope!  While I will never be totally cured (off the ink),  I have become better at crafting the simple style after repeatedly going out of my comfort zone to prove to myself that I CAN do it…and I am so much better off for it!

#GDP096 case the designer Tanja Kolar

I decided on using the Graceful Garden stamp set as the focal point on my version of Tanja’s beautiful card.  Upon seeing this wonderful stamp set, I had visions of a vintage style card, with ribbon and ink in all of it’s rustic glory… but now, instead, I thought I would put my brain to work and figure out a way to use it for this challenge!

So…for my card, I switched out the colors for something more bold…I did use the Stitched Shape Framelits, but made the larger square black. I don’t have a 3D element, I stamped the rose design directly on the top square instead, and colored it with markers and Watercolor Pencils.  I also added a larger background design behind the squares… mostly because I wanted to use the trellis type stamp from the set (I love anything that looks like grid work) I did, however, add some ink splatter…I couldn’t help myself…I love ink!

Single Red Rose For GDP096. Inker's Workshop 2017 angle view

If you look very closely at the angle view, you can see the tiny bits of twinkle from the Shimmery Paper I used on the project!  It’s a very subtle shimmer, but a very pretty detail when seen in person!

Single Red Rose For GDP096 matching envelope. Inker's Workshop 2017

Adding a coordinating envelope in plain black and white is the perfect finishing touch for this project!

Want more inspiration? Make sure you head on over the Global Design Project to see all the wonderful projects from this week’s challenge!

Have A Fabulous Day!
